Cook

With the pandemic, many of us were forced indoors as restaurants closed around us. Hopefully we were able to emerge as better cooks and have a newfound love for the kitchen. Not only is this a budget friendly alternative to dining out, studies have shown that cooking at home can give our brain a cognitive workout too!
There are six pillars to brain health: physical fitness, sleep/relaxation, food/nutrition, medical health, mental fitness, and social interaction. By cooking at home and sharing a meal with our loved ones, we are touching on three of the six pillars. Following a recipe and getting creative gives our brains a mental workout while also encouraging us to find nutritious foods. Lastly, cooking for our loved ones provides us with social interactions which we also need in order to thrive.
