The LoveYourBrain Yoga Curriculum: For yoga teachers who want to delve further into LoveYourBrain’s approach and learn our specific 6 week introductory curriculum for the brain injury community. This unique curriculum incorporates TBI-focused yoga and meditation best practices, class themes to foster resilience and compassion, and conversation facilitation skills to support people affected by TBI to discuss their healing through yoga and meditation. Each class is designed around a theme that is informed by one of the ten key factors for cultivating resilience.
Conversation facilitation skills to support the discussion component of the FUNdamentals series, a unique feature of our program.
You will have the opportunity to both practice and teach parts of the curriculum to make the experience as applied as possible.
Additional requirements include watching The Crash Reel, reading Traumatic Head Injury: Cause, Consequence, and Challenge (aka “The Red Book”), and completing an assessment.
Who is this training for?
We welcome yoga teachers, yoga teachers in training, people with a strong interest in making yoga accessible to people with brain injury, people with lived experience of brain injury, caregivers, anyone who wants to deepen their personal practice and become advocates for LoveYourBrain Yoga in their communities, and clinicians working in brain health and healing.
This training is also geared towards yoga studios and their teachers who have been accepted into our network of partner yoga studios to offer the LYB Yoga program to their community in the longer term.
How does this online training support learning?
Our trainings always prioritize a ‘feel’ of close connection and intimacy, so we offer this online training as a live, interactive program instead of a pre-recorded course. Although, in the past, we have offered compelling and comprehensive pre-recorded courses with Yoga International, we want these trainings to be about bringing our trainees together to share, learn, and grow together in real-time, even if not in the same physical space.
We offer a similar schedule (movement-based yoga classes, lecture, large and small group work, interactive breakout sessions, live Q&As) so there will be cohesiveness and engagement amongst all participants.
We realize screen time can be challenging, and that it's hard to maintain attention and focus for a whole day on the screen, so we’ll include many breaks (both rest and movement) throughout the day to help you re-energize and integrate the content.
We offer closed captioning to make this training more accessible to all lived experiences, learning styles, and individual needs.
We circulate in advance our electronic 200+ page manual and slides.
We keep our group engaged with each other to ensure everyone feels seen and heard, can ask questions, and connect with one another.
We record the content and share with you all so that you will have ongoing access to the content. We upload recordings on YouTube where closed captioning is available. Live sessions will also have access to closed captioning.
The cost is the same as our in-person trainings because the amount of content and quality is the same. However, for people facing financial uncertainty, we hope our online format helps minimize additional costs (e.g., travel, accommodations, eating out).
