LYB Mindset Facilitator
About me: I am a TBI Survivor. As a former educator, I find joy in learning. As part of my recovery, I discovered mindful meditation, qigong and yoga. I also have been able to volunteer as a co-facilitator for LYB, participate in a TBI support group and help out at a food pantry on a regular basis.
Why LYB: The LYB community has helped to create a new normal world for me to live in that isn't limited. It helped to show me that I am resilient and how to find gratitude even in the middle of the storm. Now that I have this type of support network, I wanted to share it with everyone who has suffered some type of TBI to help bring about a sense of normal and a sense of pride within oneself.
Superhero: Originally, I would have answered this question by saying my mother. She was a strong, independent, and educated African American Woman. Over the past 8 years a new hero has emerged. He has stood by me when I couldn't physically function, remember anything, going through various mood changes or be the wife or mom I used to know. My husband has become my superhero. He is not perfect, but like most superheroes he has a weakness. He is human with human emotions, but he gets up everyday and gives 120% to make sure the world is okay for his family.
