Nick Aguilera

Accessibility and Advocacy Chair

Hi! My name is Nick Aguilera. I love the freedom, joy, and connection to the community and world around us that comes along with a bicycle. I care deeply about making bicycling better for people of all ages and abilities. I currently work at PeopleForBikes, working with community-based organizations and the bike industry to support youth bicycling programs around the country. My background is in urban planning, education, and community engagement.

I suffered a TBI on a bike ride last July. I spent about 1.5 months in the hospital, followed by weeks of outpatient care. LoveYourBrain and the Ride for Resilience campaign have provided great community, resources, and connection to me as I have healed. I was spinning inside for over a year before I could ride a bike outside again. I'm so grateful to be able to ride a bike and it's been central to my sense of healing. I want to help others safely walk, bike and roll around their communities and deeply care for their brains while they’re at it!

My favorite days usually involve sunshine, a cup of coffee, brewing kombucha, time outside, and riding my bike.
