LoveYourBrain and Jack Mitrani to Host 6th Annual Golf Tournament
Event supports the nonprofit organization on a mission to improve the quality of life of people affected by traumatic brain injury
Burlington, VT - The LoveYourBrain Foundation, a Vermont-based national nonprofit, is set to host its 6th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, September 19th at Burlington Country Club. This annual event, presented in 2022 by Vermont-based Bitter Bubble, invites golf enthusiasts, corporations, professionals and philanthropists to join LoveYourBrain in raising money for their community-based and online programs for people affected by traumatic brain injury (TBI). Every 11 seconds, someone experiences a TBI - including concussion - and all proceeds from the tournament support LoveYourBrain’s programs and resources, which are provided at no cost to participants around the globe.
Longtime champion of LoveYourBrain and host of the X Games Jack Mitrani is set to host the event. One of snowboarding’s most popular personalities, Mitrani brings a vivacious spirit to the tournament, along with a deep passion for the support and community LoveYourBrain provides.
“Each year, the goal of our golf tournament is to raise awareness and funds so that we can provide the transformative power of community, mindfulness, and movement for the TBI community,” said Adam Pearce, LoveYourBrain’s co-Founder and Executive Director. “Too often, those affected by TBI face a number of ongoing challenges - notably, isolation. This tournament provides a day of fun, philanthropy, and connection that has a tremendous impact on our ability to provide free, evidence-based programs and resources.”
The 18-hole scramble format tournament begins with a shotgun start and features on-course games, including a chance to hit a hole in one and win a 2023 Subaru Outback, sponsored by Burlington Subaru. The tournament is known for its curated raffle prizes, which are announced during the lunch and awards portion following game play. This year’s event has attracted over 30 corporate sponsors from across Vermont and the Northeast, including Bank of America, Ben & Jerry’s, Burton, Community Bank, LN Consulting, Loudmouth, NFP, Performance Food Services Group, ReArch Company, Select, and Simon Pearce.
Returning for a second year is an online silent auction, open to the public, which features two unique experiences, including a lunch, private tour, and shopping spree with Simon Pearce at the glass maker’s eponymous flagship store in Quechee, Vermont. Individuals can text ‘LYB’ to 76278 or visit lyb.givesmart.com to explore auction packages and bid.
A limited number of foursomes and sponsorship opportunities remain, and those interested can visit loveyourbrain.com/golf-tournament, or contact Laurel Crosby, Director of Development and Communications.
About LoveYourBrain
The LoveYourBrain Foundation is a national non-profit that improves the quality of life of people impacted by traumatic brain injury (TBI) and raises awareness about the importance of brain health. Guided by their family’s experience, brothers Kevin and Adam Pearce established LoveYourBrain in 2014 following Kevin’s severe TBI from a snowboarding accident before the 2010 Olympics. Kevin’s remarkable resilience was transformed into the award-winning HBO Documentary, “The Crash Reel,” which brought to light the challenges and prevalence of TBI. In response, LoveYourBrain developed programs and resources designed to create community and foster resilience for the TBI community. Now, LoveYourBrain’s Yoga, Retreat, and Mindset programs are offered at no cost across the globe to empower the TBI community with new tools, resources, and connections.
