LoveYourBrain announces new partnership with Giant Bicycle, Inc.
NORWICH, Vermont - The LoveYourBrain Foundation, the national nonprofit supporting people affected by concussion and traumatic brain injury, is proud to announce a new partnership with Giant Bicycle, Inc, the world’s leading brand of bikes and cycling gear.
“Both LoveYourBrain and Giant share a common purpose - to unleash the full potential of those in our communities,” shared Adam Pearce, co-Founder and Executive Director of LoveYourBrain. “This partnership will help support cyclists affected by concussion and brain injury to access the programs and resources that can help them unleash a new potential after life changes dramatically."
TBI is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, with more than 3 million people in the US and Canada sustaining a TBI annually. Studies have shown that cycling causes more TBIs than football. In fact, 1 of 3 injuries caused by cycling are head injuries. LoveYourBrain provides free, evidence-based programs designed to optimize brain health after injury through access to a balanced mind, healthy body, and social connection. Founded in 2014 by Pearce and his brother, former professional athlete Kevin Pearce, LoveYourBrain now serves approximately 10,000 people each year.
“QUOTE FROM GIANT”
This partnership will build upon LoveYourBrain and Giant’s respective areas of expertise, by raising awareness of brain injury, the importance of helmet use and upkeep, and the programs available if and when a head injury occurs. To launch the partnership, Giant has generously donated 100 helmets and 2 e-bikes to support LoveYourBrain’s annual Ride for Resilience campaign, a cycling-centric initiative to educate, engage, and empower people affected by concussion and brain injury.
“With the staggering prevelance of head injuries in cycling, it makes a deep impact when brands partner with us to bring this reality to the forefront - and provide people greater access to life-changing tools, resources, and communities to support them in moving forward,” added Pearce. “Giant is one of these brands who is willing to engage in these important conversations, and bring more visibility to an often invisible injury. We are incredibly grateful for their partnership.”
The partnership between LoveYourBrain and Giant launched May 1st, 2023 and will continue throughout the year, bringing brain injury education and support to the forefront in stories and awareness campaigns.
About LoveYourBrain
The LoveYourBrain Foundation is a national non-profit that improves the quality of life of people impacted by traumatic brain injury (TBI) and raises awareness about the importance of brain health. Guided by their family’s experience, brothers Kevin and Adam Pearce established LoveYourBrain in 2014 following Kevin’s severe TBI from a snowboarding accident prior to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Kevin’s remarkable resilience was documented and transformed into the award-winning HBO Documentary, “The Crash Reel,” which brought to light the experience and prevalence of TBI. In response, LoveYourBrain developed programs and resources designed to create community and foster resilience, which are offered worldwide. In addition, LoveYourBrain provides free online resources such as guided meditations, yoga classes, brain tips and a community blog. Visit http://www.loveyourbrain.com to learn more.
