Ethan Frankel
Hey there! Cycling has consistently been a source of inspiration for me. From watching the Tour as a young kid, to riding 100+ miles with my dad’s colleagues, to racing in NorCal for a junior development program, to racing collegiate and on the domestic pro road circuit, I’ve pursued cycling at many different levels. Bikes are the best vehicles to escape, to enjoy nature, to make friends and meet people, stay fit, and have an impact. As I was preparing to race abroad in Europe in 2020 while completing my last few terms at UCLA, COVID-19 reached the US. I pivoted any racing ambitions to use the bicycle as a fundraising tool for charities struggling because of the pandemic. In August of 2020, I crashed heavily on a training ride in Marin and woke up in a hospital with a broken jaw and my 8th TBI. This experience made me realize my racing days may be coming to an end. 2021 was my last year pursuing the USA Crits series, and 2022 has been the year of healing. The bike has been my way of healing through moving my body and connecting with fellow active, inspiring people - despite the injuries I've had from the sport! I am learning to Love My Brain and appreciate all of its strengths and weaknesses. Visit thehalfasiancyclist.wordpress.com to read more about me and my journey!
