Follow steps 1-8 below at your own pace. Each lesson is followed by a meditation practice.
1
LESSON: “Best” meditation position
A common question that often comes up is ‘what’s the best meditation position? And, if I can’t be still - does that mean I’m failing?’ Learn guiding principles about how to set up for your meditation practice to balance being alert yet at ease.
2
MEDITATION: Alert and At Ease
In this practice, we’ll work on setting up your meditation position to support feeling steady and present.
3
LESSON: Intention, Attention, Attitude
Learn a simple framework to break down what we’re doing in mindfulness meditation to help make it more accessible.
4
MEDITATION: Intention, Attention, Attitude
In this practice, we’ll move through this three-step framework to set the foundation for our mindfulness meditation practice.
5
LESSON: Power of Pause
Learn about the power of pausing, and how mindfulness can support us to do so.
6
MEDITATION: C.A.L.M.
This practice, which stands for Chest Arms Legs and Mind, is a helpful structure for learning to pause by checking in with our body, mind, and heart.
7
LESSON: Distraction is Everywhere
This is one of the biggest reasons we meditate - training our mind how to pay attention. Yet, after brain injury, or when we experience chronic stress, our ability to pay attention and stay focused is even more compromised.
8
MEDITATION: The Skill of Attention
We’ll practice noticing when we become distracted, and, instead of criticizing or judging ourselves as failures, we’ll gently guide our attention back to the present with a quality of understanding and kindness.
